Are Tobacco Alternatives Worth It? What RYO Smokers Say
May 15, 2025Stock Up Before the Long Weekend: Memorial Day RYO Checklist
Memorial Day is more than just the unofficial start of summer. It’s a time to reflect, honor, and remember the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. For many, the long weekend is a blend of remembrance, time with loved ones, and a chance to pause from the daily grind.
At Ciggys4Less, we understand that for many of our customers, a cigarette isn’t just a habit—it’s a ritual. It’s time to step outside, take a breath, and remember. Whether you’re lighting up in solitude to reflect, or gathering with family and friends for a barbecue, we want to make sure you’re prepared before the holiday begins. Especially since we’ll be closed on Memorial Day Monday.
Here’s your extended guide to making sure your Memorial Day weekend is smooth, respectful, and stocked with everything you need.
Roll Before the Holiday Rush
Unlike a convenience store run for pre-rolled packs, our RYO service happens on-site at the Ciggys4Less store, using our tobacco, machines, and expert guidance. Customers choose their favorite blend—smooth, bold, or menthol—and roll a 200-cigarette container in-store using our professional-grade machines.
This isn’t something you can do at home, so planning ahead is key. Memorial Day weekend is one of our busiest times of year, and we highly recommend rolling your supply before the Saturday rush.
If you’re planning to:
- Travel out of town
- Host guests
- Attend gatherings
- Or simply relax at home uninterrupted
You’ll want to get into the shop ahead of time and roll what you need for the entire weekend. Many of our customers say they associate this kind of planning with how they were raised—stocking up in advance, being mindful of closures, and making sure their “daily comforts” were covered. For some, that means having a full cooler. For others, it’s a full tobacco container.
How Much RYO Should You Roll?
A 200-count container of cigarettes is equivalent to a full carton and, depending on your smoking pace and whether you plan to share, it might be more than enough—or just enough.
Take into account:
- If you’re hosting: Having a full container means you’re ready to offer a few to friends without worry.
- If you’re traveling: Being away from the RYO station means you’ll need your supply ahead of time.
- If you’re solo: This might be a good time to stock an extra container for post-holiday convenience.
Many customers roll an extra set just for the convenience of not having to come back mid-week.

Tobacco Supplies, Lighters & Accessories Worth Picking Up
While you’re in the shop to roll, it’s smart to stock up on a few things that make your experience better over the weekend—especially if you’re outdoors more than usual.
Consider picking up:
- Wind-resistant lighters for grilling or smoking outdoors
- Extra lighters or butane refills so you don’t run out at a crucial moment
- Portable ashtrays with lids for back porches or patios
- Airtight containers to keep your freshly rolled cigarettes from drying out
- Odor-control spray if you’re visiting family or staying in hotels
These simple items often get forgotten, but they make a big difference in your comfort and consideration for those around you.
Honoring the Spirit of the Day
While Memorial Day weekend brings summer sales, parties, and getaways, it’s important to remember why we have the holiday in the first place. It’s a day of national remembrance for soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice.
For some of our customers—especially veterans or families of service members—stepping outside to light a cigarette is part of how they honor that memory. It’s a pause in the noise. A moment to reflect. Whether you’re visiting a grave site, standing quietly at a memorial, or simply looking across the lake, that time is yours.
We’re proud to serve many veterans and active-duty families here at Ciggys4Less, and we want to support your weekend in the way we know how—by making sure you have everything you need ahead of time.
Ciggys4Less Memorial Day Hours
To allow our team to observe the holiday, Ciggys4Less will be closed on Monday, May 26. We are open our normal hours Monday through Saturday leading up to the holiday, but weekend traffic tends to spike by Friday.
We encourage all customers to:
- Come in earlier in the week to avoid long waits
